Whether itâs on the court as a basketball referee or helping AVANGRID customers, Kammy Spence is proud to make a difference. Spence, a mother of three and grandparent of two, works within the Customer Care Center for Connecticut Natural Gas in East Hartford, CT. âI really enjoy the work I do because I help provide training for new team members, work on special projects to help reduce backlog within our department, assist customers through billing issues and refer them to CEAP, Connecticutâs Energy Assistant Program, to help offset winter heating costs,â she said. Outside of AVANGRID, Spence officiates basketball for girlâs high school, womenâs college, and the Greater Hartford Pro-Am Menâs league. She also serves as a member of the ad-hoc Womenâs Committee for the International Association of Approved Basketball Officials (IABBO), which allows Spence to help recruit, mentor and retain women officials. âWomenâs History Month is important to me because itâs a time to highlight, appreciate and celebrate the numerous accomplishments of all women â especially women of color. Iâm proud to work for a company who makes diversity, equity, and inclusion a priority,â Spence said. âAVANGIRDâs continued commitment to this initiative will ensure that everyone who works here feels included. Iâm really inspired by the work thatâs being done and I hope that I can continue making an impact through my officiating, self-development and eventually as a trainer.â ï»ż
