Celebrating Pride Month: Christina Renaud
During Pride Month in June, Avangrid is celebrating our LGBTQ+ colleagues and allies! Each week we’ll be highlighting a member of the Pride community at Avangrid.
To kick off the month, let’s meet Christina Renaud, Senior Regional Planner for Renewables and Pride Local Leader for Boston.
Tell us about your role at Avangrid. What do you do?
I am the Senior Regional Planner working for Operations and Maintenance supporting asset management and the Vineyard Wind 1 site team. I have helped develop the maintenance program by helping develop processes and procedures. I’ve been with the company almost a year now and I really enjoy it. Additionally, I have been able to take a lead role in developing our new onboarding process in U.S. Offshore O&M.
What is a highlight of your career so far at Avangrid? Any special projects, achievements, etc.
I am very proud to be part of the Vineyard Wind 1 windfarm, a historic and exciting offshore wind project. It really shows how Avangrid is leading the industry as we bring offshore wind to the U.S.
How do you plan to celebrate Pride Month this year?
I’m looking forward to raising the Pride flag in the Boston office and having a Pride recruiting event and engagement lunch connected with that event. It’s always great to meet with other Pride members and to recruit new ones as we build a sense of community and inclusion across Avangrid.
How has being a member of the Pride BRG impacted you, either personally or professionally?
It has connected me with some amazing people throughout the different organizations of Avangrid, people I wouldn’t have met otherwise in my job. I now have relationships across networks, corporate, and renewables, and even across the country!
Name a role model you admire in the LGBTQ+ community. How do they inspire you?
Maura Healey is the first woman and openly gay Governor of Massachusetts. It inspires me to see just how far an openly gay woman can go in politics and in life in general. Also, I admire her public speaking skills.
What is one way allies can better support the LGBTQ+ community?
I would say that the Pride BRG is not just for members of the LGBTQ+ community, it is also for supporters of the community, so join the pride BRG and help us bring good things to the people of Avangrid.
