Celebrating Women’s History Month: Kelly Cardillo

At Avangrid, Diversity and Inclusion in the workplace matters to us. During Women’s History Month, we honor women’s contributions to history, culture, and society. Throughout this month, we’re spotlighting some of the women on our team who make Avangrid and the world a better place. Kelly Cardillo, Lead Analyst for CMP’s Financial & Operations Management team.

Tell us about your life before Avangrid. What’s your career journey been like? Your education?

Before Avangrid, I worked for the State of Maine, in various roles, including Disability Determination Services, Health and Human Services (DHHS), and the Maine Revenue Services. I graduated from Kaplan University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, summa cum laude.

Now, your life at Avangrid: What are your main responsibilities in your role, and what is your favorite part of the work you do?

I became an employee in 2002, starting in the call center at CMP. I moved into Marketing and Advertising for a short period, and then into a financial role. I’m currently a Lead Analyst, Financial and Operations Management (F&OM) supporting Networks Operations. In this role, I provide support to the P&T and OSG areas in the preparation, maintenance and execution associated with the financial planning/forecasting processes as well as financial support related to the Vegetation Management Programs.

I know this is a cliché, but my favorite part of the work is the employees. I love the interactions I have within my department as well as the various business areas and the support we provide to one another.

What are your passions, hobbies, favorite pastimes?

My greatest passion would be spending time with my family and friends, especially my 3 granddaughters Ari, Maddy, and Emma. I enjoy cooking, pool parties, playing slot machines and bingo.

Who’s a woman who inspires you? Why?

The person who inspires me the most is my Mother-in-Law Maria. She came to this country in the late 70’s with her family, not knowing how to speak English, or what the future would bring. She went to work full time, in a mill dominated by men, while raising her family. She faced many obstacles, but never once did she give up or change who she was. Her compassion, strength, work ethic, determination, and kindness are the qualities in which I am inspired by.

What advice would you give to a young woman looking to follow in your footsteps?

Do what makes you happy, decide what it is we want and have the confidence to go after it. Remember it’s important to have a support team, seek out mentors and role models who can provide guidance, experience, and knowledge to you.
