Celebrating Black History Month: Meet Tierra Bagely

Let’s meet Tierra Bagely Customer Care Supervisor for Connecticut Natural Gas.
What is your role at Avangrid and how did you find your way here?
I am currently a Customer Care Center Supervisor, for Connecticut Natural Gas. When I joined the company, I began as a representative in Southern Connecticut Gas and held that position for five years. I then took a position with SCG Credit and Collections and was in that role for three years. This all lead to my current position, which I have been in for over a year. When I first started in the company, I asked about growth opportunities and I was told the options were plentiful. From what I have experienced thus far, it’s true if you stay diligent.
How do you celebrate Black History Month?
In my eyes, I celebrate Black History every day. There were many that came before me that did not have the opportunity to wake up to the freedom I have. I truly am my ancestors’ wildest dreams. As a result, I start each day with a grateful heart. The way has been paved and it’s up to me to seize the moment.
What is your favorite piece of media or art from a Black creator?
Brionya James (Social Media handle: @godtaughtartist) has some amazing pieces of original art. It’s a bit hard to choose just one. She had an oil painting, “ A New Chapter” that she completed last year. I absolutely loved it.

What do you like to do outside of work? Favorite hobby or passion?
Some of the things I like to do outside of work are going to the gym, trying new recipes, and trying different coffee and coffee creamer flavors. I also enjoy listening to podcasts related to mysteries, crime investigation, or the paranormal.
Who or what inspires you?
I inspire and motivate myself. I feel being inspired by something or someone else can lead to comparison. In my opinion, comparison leaves much to be desired. However, I do understand this is not a one-size-fits-all observation.
