Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month: Meet Pablo Hernandez

Hispanic Heritage Month, which takes place September 15 – October 15, is a time to recognize and celebrate the myriad histories, cultures, and contributions of the Hispanic and Latin community. At the helm of the festivities is the ¡HOLA! (Hispanic Organization for Leadership and Awareness) Hispanic business resource group. In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, members of ¡HOLA! are sharing about their work, passions, and family traditions.

Below, meet Pablo Hernandez, Program Manager, Optimization.

What does your day-to-day at work look like?

I administer application permissions and support users in our work order application. I also help users with other applications required to operate wind and solar power plants. Besides support, I also work on upcoming new program projects or enhancements to optimize operations.

How long have you been in your role and what is your favorite part of it?

I have been with the Optimization team for over a year now. My favorite part of my role is the ability to learn and help others; every day, I learn something new and continue to thrive in my position.

Tell us about you outside of work. What do you like do for fun? Any cool hobbies, hidden talents, etc?

I like to spend time with my family (pictured left) and friends. Hobbies of mine include pickleball, hiking, weightlifting, attending car and coffee events, and occasional wine tasting.

What’s a project you’re working on either personally or professionally that you’re most excited about?

Currently, I am working on a project called Optima. The project aims to improve the efficiency of our preventive maintenance in our GE 1x & Gamesa G8x/G9x fleet.

Also, continuing my education. I am currently attending online courses to pursue my major in business project management.

Can you share with us your favorite family tradition or holiday, or recipe?

My favorite holiday is Christmas. Family gathering starts on Christmas Eve, and we participate in a food potluck feast, where someone (typically my mother) makes my favorite dish, which is pozole, and my other family members make tamales and prepare a traditional Mexican beverage called atole, and my wife shares a family dessert Baklava recipe from her heritage which is Greece. Once midnight approaches (Christmas day), we open our presents together as a big family.
