Avangrid reaches major milestone for renewable energy fleet
Avangrid is a sustainability leader and committed to accelerating the energy transition in the United States, and it recently announced that it eclipsed 9 GW of installed clean energy capacity at its onshore wind and solar plants.
“I am proud of the continued progress Avangrid is making to grow our renewable energy footprint nationwide, but we are not complacent,” said Pedro Azagra, Avangrid CEO. “With a big pipeline of future renewable energy projects across the country, and a large fleet of onshore wind projects that is ripe for repowering, we remain steadfast in our commitment to accelerating the clean energy transition. In reaching this milestone, we are setting our sites on the next.”
The company’s onshore wind and solar portfolio includes more than 75 projects across 22 states. Construction progress at multiple projects this summer helped it reach this milestone. These renewable energy projects not only help each state, and the country, reach their climate goals, but deliver important community benefits by creating jobs, boosting economic growth, and contributing to the tax base.
Not only do these projects create careers in the community and generate transformational increases in tax payments to counties, but they help keep the local air and water resources clean.
