Hispanic Heritage Month: Meet Andres Londono Giraldo

It’s #HispanicHeritageMonth, and in collaboration with our employee resource group ¡HOLA!, we’re proud to shine the spotlight on a few of our talented people. Today, meet Andres Londono Giraldo, Sr. Manager – Planning & Scheduling, at Central Maine Power (CMP).

Tell us a little about your role at CMP.

I have been with the company for over two years and my role in Avangrid as a Sr. Manager – Planning and Scheduling is responsible for leading the planning, prioritization, scheduling, and coordination of work across electric operations to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of work. This role oversees workforce planning, work management processes, scheduling strategies, and performance reporting to balance customer needs, regulatory commitments, operational priorities, resource availability, and financial objectives.

What does Hispanic Heritage Month mean to you personally?

Hispanic Heritage Month is meaningful to me because it gives us an opportunity to celebrate our culture, recognize our contributions, and share the positive impact Hispanic and Latino communities have made throughout the years. It is a time to reflect on our heritage, values, and traditions, while also highlighting how we continue to help our communities grow and thrive in meaningful ways.

Can you share a tradition, value, or lesson from your Hispanic/Latino heritage that has shaped who you are today?

One value often associated with Colombian culture is the importance of family and community. The lesson is that relationships matter and that we are stronger when we support one another. We recently saw this after the earthquake that affected parts of the country. People came together in many ways to support families, friends, and communities as cities and towns worked to recover. That experience reinforced the importance of collaboration, empathy, and showing up for people when they need help.

How has your cultural background influenced the way you approach your career, relationships, or leadership style?

Growing up, I learned the importance of resilience, growth mindset, and maintaining a positive outlook, even when facing challenges. Those values taught me to persevere, adapt to change, and focus on solutions rather than obstacles. My culture also places a strong emphasis on family, community, and supporting one another. My Colombian heritage has taught me that resilience, optimism, and a strong sense of community can help individuals and teams overcome difficulties and achieve great things together. Those lessons continue to guide how I work with colleagues, build relationships, and lead teams every day.
