This week, we’re spotlighting Travas McCarthy, Senior Engineer – Gas Capital Design and Delivery.
Tell us a little more about your current role and responsibilities.
I am responsible for the development and lead of Gas Engineering Technicians as well as performing multiple roles to guide the safe and efficient delivery of capital design, system reliability/reinforcement, and infrastructure replacement projects. I often assist or take the lead in developing and enhancing Company-specific procedures and processes. I specialize in pressure regulation, overpressure protection, and corrosion control design and guide the Engineering team accordingly.
How long have you been a part of BGC, and what roles have you held in the past?
I have been at Berkshire Gas for ten years and have held the positions of Engineering Technician, System Planning Engineer, Production Supervisor, and currently Senior Engineer.
What is your favorite part of your role and why?
My favorite part of my role is that I get the opportunity to utilize my Civil Engineering degree daily, both in the calculations and the design of our projects. It’s a strong feeling of satisfaction to use my education and engineering passion in a practical and productive capacity.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Outside of work, my passion is spending time in the backyard with my two boys, Mason and Bo, and my wife, Aimee. Any remaining free time is spent hunting, fishing, and riding ATVs.
